  • What is hair transplantation?

  • Is procedure painful?

    Whole procedure is done under local anesthesia, in which patient either reads, or watches TV or gets breaks to have tea or coffee.

  • How many sessions of hair transplant are needed?

    Most of times, single session transplant is done. If area of baldness is more, then only more than one session is advised.

  • What is after care following transplantation?
  • Minimal care for two weeks is needed to prevent dislodgment of hair follicles. After that hair get permanently fixed

  • When will see the results?
  • Transplanted hairs are shed and start growing after four months. Final results take up to one year.

  • What is type of anesthesia?

    Rhinoplasty can be done both under general and local anesthesia. Type of anesthesia is chosen in consultation with patient and also depends upon type of rhinoplasty

  • What is difference between rhinoplasty and septo-rhinoplasty?

    Rhinoplasty deals with correction of outer frame work while septo-rhinoplasty includes correction of septal frame work as well.

  • What is closed and open rhinoplasty?

    Closed rhinoplasty is done by incision inside the nose while open rhinoplasty incision is partly at columela and partly inside the nose. In open rhinoplasty everything is done under vision while in closed rhinoplasty part of the procedure is done by under vision. What is best for patient is discussed before hand.

  • What are materials used for nasal augmentation?

    Material may be autogenous (septal cartilage, rib cartilage or conchal cartilage) or bone fro outer table of skull, iliac crest or rib or from olecranon. Material like silicone, medpore are synthetic material most commonly used. Synthetic materials are approved by FDA for such use.

  • Is gynecomazia serious condition?

    Gynecomazia or enlarged male breast is due to hormonal imbalance and hence is benign condition.

  • Can this condition be treated medically?

    If hormonal workout demonstrates imbalance due to tumor in endocrine glands, or cirrhosis of liver or because of prolonged drug intake, medication will reverse it to some extent.

  • Is surgery essential?

    Being aesthetic deformity, surgical is only option minimal incisions are given to prevent scarring around chest. Liposuction is done by 2mm incision and hard breast tissue is removed through peri-areolar incision. Chest compression by pressure garments in post operative period is essential to prevent collections. Rarely in grade three gynecomazia, skin excision may be needed thyrough infra-mammary incisions.

  • Is surgical cure permanent?

    Breast tissue once removed give permanent cure. Fat deposition as a part of generalized obesity can recur occasionally. Rarely in grade three gynecomazia, skin excision may be needed thyrough infra-mammary incisions.
